As a former Lambeth resident, MEM was the best. AFC and Slaughter are just too far away besides they are always crowded.

Ignore the haters, go to Mem Gym. Most UVA gyms are filled with people who seem to live there, run a yoga studio, or play professional sports. Mem is for the average Joe who just wants to get a work out in without pressure or judgement. You can go there and be yourself.

I love the atmosphere of this facility and it now has air condition. One negative, bathrooms on the main level is scarce at best. Not enough for the number of people that it holds.

Great facility and equipment. Because its an old building it gets hotter in the summer. The new AC tries but doesnt quite cool it completely. The heat adds to the workout though.

Its an oldie, but a goodie. Not usually as crowded as the AFC, this is a great gym to go to for basketball or volleyball with your friends, or just for a workout in the weight room. The multi purpose room is great for indoor soccer, or dodgeball, and Mem is the only gym with a sparring room

Its a little older than the AFC, but it still has all of the necessities for proper training free weights, track, plyo boxes. The biggest advantage here is that its less crowded, so you wont have to wait for equipment.

Honestly my favorite gym out of all the gym at UVA. Love their weight lifting room becuase its never too crowded. They have a cardio area too which seems nice. Also a huge basketball court on the first floor. Only downside is that they dont have a parking lot you can park at...just a place where you can drop and pick up.

Mem is tough. A lot rustier then it used to be. Totally not as well maintained weight room as other gymslighting is not great, spacing is tight, really hard when crowded. Only three squat racks so be warned. Its just a hard space in general. Used to be a fav gym, now hitting up Slaughter more. Does have saunas though
