Marvielab 2011 collection - “in’es’terno” - by Mariavittoria Sargentini
The theme for MarvieLab’s 2011 collection presented for the spring-summer season revolves around reversibility - hence the name in’es’terno, roughly translating to “in’ext’erior”. The key pieces include a set of reversible jackets in different materials ranging from heavy cotton to medium weight cotton-wool to light weight cotton-linen. other materials include natural fibres and colours in shades of whites and greys, one of the most interestign ones being milk fibre and lenpur. This season also introduces a new product - shoes made out of linen, natural rubber and cork. T-shirts are also reversible with french seams, creating an alternate look on each side.
Although conceived as annual, non-seasonal collections, both the men’s and women’s lines are presented twice a year, incorporating seasonal materials. Continue reading for styled photos of the collection.
Alongside the SS11 collection for Label Under Construction, designer Luca Laurini introduced a new project entitled Signals. The concept features various forms of writing, particularly in code, incorporated into garments. A jacket made of vintage table cloth fabric featured a quote by Nietzsche, whereas some garments had references of the construction written in Morse code, such as “corrosion” embroided on an acid washed knit. Other treatments included graphite dyeing and some of the details were laser cut, others embroided into the knit.
Signals will be available at a very limited number of retailers for spring 2011.
